Our Treatments
Corns and callous appear when an area of your foot is exposed to an increase in pressure. This can be from inappropriate footwear, structural problems and biomechanical abnormalities.
There are many different things on the market for the removal of corns and callus. These products tend to destroy the surrounding healthy skin in the process of removing the corn/callus and also increase the risk of infection.
The podiatrists here at Heather Bassett Podiatry Group use a sterile scalpel to remove corns and callous and assess the health of the underlying tissue. If required, a wound assessment and dressing will be used post debridement. This is generally not a painful procedure.
To minimise the amount of callous or corns on your foot, we assess what is causing an increase in pressure and design a treatment plan to reduce this pressure. This may involve shoe padding, foot orthoses and education on appropriate footwear.
Don't put up with painful corns and callous that left untreated can cause secondary complications such as ulceration and infection. Call now to make an appointment.
