How are pedicures different to a Podiatry Treatment? At a Podiatry Consultation we assess the dermatological, biomechanical and skeletal conditions to determine how treatment should proceed.
The instruments that we use here at Heather Bassett Podiatry Group have been cleaned and sterilised with an autoclave that is compliant with the Australian Standards. They are then wrapped and logged. The instruments are only used once and then they are reprocessed again.
Pedicurists do not have to steam sterilse their instruments and they are not allowed to do sharp debridement.
One needs to be mindful of the hygiene used in foot spa's as these can only be disinfected and not sterilised.
Fungal infections, papilloma's, warts and verrucae are all contagious conditions and if you have any of these, foot spas should not be used.
